I want to first start off by giving thanks to God, without Him, I wouldn’t be here. I have been through a lot physically, emotionally, and mentally. I’m fighting a hard fight, that I do not plan to lose.

To my husband, Mr. Rod Sumter, you are my backbone, confidant, and lover. You listen to me ramble about storylines, characters, and titles. You always give me your undivided attention, and that means everything to me. At times, you have loved me more than I’ve loved myself. My Rod, you told me I could do anything I put my mind to. You have always believed in me, and for that, I will always love you and be grateful to you.

To my babies, Dakarai and Jhnai, always know that you are my heart and my strength. I will always be your biggest cheerleader in everything that you do. Now, my two babies, you are returning the favor, and being my cheerleader. Your opinions and suggestions help to get my creative juices flowing. I strive to make you two as proud of me, as I am of you. Mommy loves you, always and forever. Heart, mind, body, and soul.

To my angel, Kenji. You are my inspiration and guiding light. I didn’t have long with you, but the time that I was blessed with is imbedded in my soul forever.

To my publisher, Talehia, you thought enough of my story to take a chance on me. You told me that what I had to say was important and should be told. I will forever be appreciative of the great opportunity you have given me. You have afforded me the tools to turn my dreams into reality. To my pen sisters. You lovely ladies rock. I thank you for your kind words, inspiration, dedication, laughs, and your positive, and sometimes crazy, words of advice. This sisterhood is a bond that I don’t mind being a part of.

To the readers, thank you. Without your support, there would be no me. Your reviews, support, messages, and well wishes, makes me keep putting the pen to paper and my fingers to the keys. I promise to write until I run out of words.

  Synopsis

Have you ever been placed in a situation that left you vulnerable? Have you ever spoken on what you would do if placed in a certain situation? We have all laid out creative ways we would do someone for any disrespect. No one is as creative as the men of ‘Triple Crown.’ The queen who owns Stone’s heart, life hangs in the balance. Finding the one’s responsible is the only way he will find vindication by exacting his own level of retribution.

Ocean escaped from one man, but what did she run to? Will her truths be exposed, or will she once again be able to talk her way out of her situation? Someone once said words are just words, until those words are used to hurt the innocent. Words spewed by a person with ill intent should that person be held accountable once those words are acted upon? Those are things Ocean is wondering as she faces her fate.

There’s more obstacles that these individuals must face. Their faith, along with their strength, is tested. Will they make it through while coming out victorious? Or will they allow the pressure of what’s coming at them cause them to fall apart and crumble?

In this finale, questions are answered. Secrets are exposed. Hearts are conquered. Lives are lost. Read, and find out who makes it through with the title King of the Hood.

  Ocean

  ‘Tuberville’

  “Ocean.”

  “Yes, sir?” I called back.

  “Come here, now,” he snipped.

Smacking my teeth on the low, this old fucker was working my nerves. Nigga got my ass living like I’m some kind of servant. I can’t use my phone, tablet, or watch television, unless he gives me permission. I’ve had to write about my life. Nigga got me trying to figure out where everything went down hill with me. This shit is torture. I’ve regretted every fucking day that I got in his truck.

Walking into his front room, as he calls it. Fake, bougie, country ass, bastard, it’s the damn living room. I want to yell that shit out so bad. The only thing stopping my ass is the repercussions, maybe more than I’m willing to endure.

“Yes, sir, you called me,” I spoke.

My voice doesn’t even sound like my own. I don’t know who the hell this is that’s talking. His eyes shot to mine. Every time I look in his eyes, guilt kicks me in the stomach.

“Did you do this?” He questioned, slowly, while pointing at the television.

Turning my body to look at what he’s speaking on. My mouth dropped, as my eyes landed on the ‘Creamy Pies’ sign, along with t
he mayhem surrounding it.

“Um, how could I have done that? I’ve been here wit you,” I rushed out.

He stood from his seat, causing me to blanch. He’s bigger than I realized, strong too. He works out everyday, while eating right and shit.

“I know you’ve been with me. Did you plan this? Do you know who did this?” He questioned, eyeing me like he can detect if I lie.

Biting my lip to hold in what I really want to say, I ain’t trying to go back in that damn dungeon.

“Mr. Timothy, I don’t even know what’s going on. You have the volume too low,” I responded, just barely keeping my attitude under wraps.

Moving his hand, the volume rose. I didn’t even notice he was holding a damn remote. I’ve got to get away from this man. Something ain’t right about his ass. He doesn’t want to fuck, drink, or smoke. He wants to teach me a lesson. I’m not in the mood to learn shit.

  “Pay attention,” he barked.

Whipping my head quickly to the television, on the screen is a news reporter. There’s a lot of chaos going on behind her.

“Hi, I’m Darcey Morrison, from news 91. I’m here reporting live the catastrophic events that have taken place in the last few hours. A call about a bomb situation was placed to the fire department at around eleven o’clock tonight. At the time, the call was of the hearsay variation. It wasn’t investigated at the time. Thirty minutes later, the first nine-one-one call center was flooded with calls of strange activity around this address. No sooner than the calls flooded in, there was several loud explosions that erupted.

As you can see behind me, the infamous ‘Creamy Pies’ gentleman’s club has been targeted. Tonight was its yearly Labor Day Bash. There’s always celebrities in attendance, both entertainers and athletes. As we were pulling on the scene, we were able to see some leaving from the scene.

So far, we are unsure of any causalities or injured parties. Over to our right, there are patrons and employees who looks to be supporting one another. No one looks severely injured. There’s fire trucks, ambulances, and police, on the scene, trying to get everything under control. From where we are standing, you really can’t see any damage to the building, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any. There was a small fire, but the firefighters have contained it. There goes Chief Lott, let’s see if he will talk to us.

(Walking quickly into the mayhem. Screams, crying, glass breaking, sirens wailing can be heard. Along with orders being called out by superiors, while checking on who is believed to be missing.)

“Excuse me, Chief Lott. Is there anything you can tell us about the actions that’s going on behind us? Do you know without a doubt what has caused the detrimental events here tonight?” She questioned, poised with the microphone at his lips.

  He blanched slightly before recovering.

“Yes, um, so far, we know that there were four pipe bombs,”

  “Hhaaahhh,” I gasped, unintentionally.

“Placed at four separate locations. From what we have learned from the head Bomb Squad Investigator, the way the bombs were positioned and made in way that was meant to kill the owner,” he finished.

“What in the actual hell?” I mumbled, to myself.

“How did he come to that conclusion, Chief?” She asked.

“From our understanding, along with the information we have ascertained along with the floor plan of the building. The four points where the bomb fragments have been found, were all centered around the owner’s office door, the owner’s private entrance, the owner’s private section, and the stage, on which the owner typically makes announcements from,” he explained.

My heart was in my throat. I could say this shit got Turtle’s name written all over it. But the dumb fuck don’t know shit bout making no damn bomb. The fucker did mention once he was related to someone who’s a chemist. I thought his ass was lying. Like, how could his dumb ass be related to someone who’s smart enough to be a chemist?

“What are you thinking, Ocean? What do you know?” Timothy’s voice called out like an order, causing me to jump.

“Um, nothing this, that is sad. I really don’t know who could,” I babbled.

“Shut up,” he snapped, cutting off my rambling.

Taking a deep breath, I focused back on the television.

“Have there been any causalities reported? Is there a count on how many has been injured? You say this was surrounding the owner. Do you know who that is, and if they are they injured?” She asked.

The Chief removed his cap to scratch his comb over.

“He needs to let that shit go,” I mumbled, with a frown on my face.

“So far, that’s a no to both of those questions. Many patrons have not been accounted for. Upon entry, we surveyed the area, noticing debris and furniture trapping some individuals. The firefighters, along with the paramedics, are working quickly to help those who are trapped. The patrons and employees that are milling around just have minor cuts and lacerations. We do have one major thing on our side, the structure is sturdy. We aren’t worried about it collapsing,” he explained.

“Thank you, Chief Lott. Please keep us informed if anything changes,” she spoke, extending her hand to him.

“You are most welcome, I will do just that,” he accepted, giving her a form handshake before walking off.

“There you have it. From his explanation, it seems the owner was targeted. For years, since the opening of ‘Creamy Pies’ gentleman’s’ club, there has been speculations on whether the owner is male or female. No one knows for sure which it is, I guess someone knows. There’s more to this story. We will keep you updated, please stay tuned,” she finished, but…

“Sorry, folks, just as we were about to go to a commercial break, screams caught our attention. There’s a stretcher being rushed out of the club doors. From here, we can see it’s a female. We can not tell if she’s breathing or not. We’ll,” she started.

  BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Screams sounded out just before the screen went black.

My eyes widened, while my pulse raced. I haven’t felt like this since my first time smoking a laced blunt. I know those were gunshots. It’s only three people bold enough to fire them shits in public, without caring about the consequences. I felt faint. A lot of people were gonna lose their lives, and I’m afraid I may be in that number.

“Now, tell me again, you know nothing about that. Ocean, all of your evil ways are coming back to bite you in the ass. You will pay for every fucking thing you have ever done. Soon as I get what the fuck, I want you will pay. Now, you need to find out what happened, and what’s going on in LSC,” Timothy barked.

That’s all he has been telling my ass. I’m going to pay for my evil wrong doings. Shit, I’m already doing that shit. Taking a deep breath before,

“How am I posed to do that? I have nothing to do wit that. I can’t be held accountable foe the actions of others,” I snapped, causing him to move to me quickly.

  “EEEKKK,” I screeched, involuntarily.

“Little girl, watch your mouth. I’ve told you before, you will respect me. As long as I let you live, you will respect me. You may think words said out of anger are not taken heed to, but they are. The ignorant fuckers you’ve fucked, acted on the bullshit you spat. Whether you were high or drunk, your words were heard. I will allow you to use your phone. You will find out everything I want to know. Speak out of turn again, and I’ll drop you off in the middle of LSC,” he let me know, staring down into my eyes.

His eyes once again changed colors, reminding me of what the hell I want to forget. Standing stalk still awaiting his next order. Nothing about staying with this man has been easy, or made sense to me.

  “Sit,” he ordered.

Holding my breath, I just barely stopped myself from rolling my eyes. Taken a seat on the couch, my body relaxed slightly. The house I’m in is nice as hell. He has some bank. He also has an accent, which threw me all the way off. The only thing I know about his ass is he just returne
d to the states six months ago from Germany. He lived there for almost fourteen years. I don’t know what he does, or did. I’m more than willing to do whatever he wants, as long as I don’t die for it.

“The tangled web we weave, when we try to deceive,” his deep voice called out, causing me to recoil.

“Shit, he’s gonna kill me, wit his creepy ass,” I mumbled, trying to calm myself.

Hearing his footsteps, I fought harder to straighten up.

“Here, work hard, your life depends on it,” he spat, dropping my phone in my lap.

As bad as I wanna smile, I can’t. I know this shit is short lived.

“When you get what you want, what will happen to me?” I questioned, almost too quietly, while turning my phone on.

“You’ll find that out when I get what I want,” was all he said, before he took a seat in the opposite chair.

With his eyes trained on me, I went to work. He gon’ fuck around and not get what he wants, while I get my freedom after killing his ass, I thought, before,

“Damn, now yo ass can call. I can’t talk right now. Some shit has gone down,” Shanny’s hoe ass answered.

“I’ve been busy. Tell me what the hell yah ass is speaking on,” I spat.

She sighed all hard, being dramatic.

“Well, since I know this will make you happy,” she paused.

  Smacking my teeth,

  “Talk,” I snapped.

What fell from her mouth got me regretting I called her ass. Trying hard to keep my eyes from expanding, and my breathing under control, as to not tip of Timothy crazy ass. Fuck what I thought earlier. I tell his ass this shit, I’m good as dead now. Fuck my life.

  Racks

  ‘Inside Creamy Pies’

“Come on, we got to get to them. This shit is fucked up,” I croaked out, while pulling Kimmy along.

“Watch yo step,” I warned her.

She just nodded. Moving debris along with furniture off some people as we moved towards the stage.

“Sir, sir, are you okay? You’re bleeding,” an EMT asked me, with a kit in her hand.

“I’m good, I’m standing. Check on the muthafuckas who’s not,” I barked, causing her ass to flinch before moving around.
